Important Notice to Parents/Guardians: Changes to Student Google Accounts

For the past three years FMPSD has worked with Google to provide students in the District with a variety of education tools under the Google Apps for Education suite of software. This online software includes unlimited cloud storage, an email account and a full collection of information processing/presentation tools free of charge. FMPSD looks forward to continuing this beneficial service in the years ahead.

Recently Google has informed the FMPSD Technology department that as a result of concerns due to inappropriate use in large school districts outside of FMPSD - changes are required to all Student Google Apps for Education accounts. Consequently, the District is required to deactivate and remove all existing students accounts from the system at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year on June 29, 2018.

However, after consultations with Google, FMPSD has received an extension and the locking and deletion of the accounts will not occur until August. This will provide students with the opportunity to use Google Takeout, available at https://takeout.google.com/ to transfer and secure files by August 27, 2018.

FMPSD will be generating new updated permanent accounts in early September for all grade 1-12 students who have parental permission on file. The Technology Department additionally hopes to implement new features, including self-service, password retrieval, and parental monitoring tools at this time.
